i think the thing that bothers me about the âfake geek girlâ myth is the fact that fake geek men actually do fucking exist.
thereâs an artist who sells at a lot of events across the country who sells superhero art but doesnât read comics or watch cartoons. he watches the movies sometimes, but actively thinks comics and cartoons are stupid and that the people who like them (and the people who make them!) are stupid.
i tabled next to an artist once who sold exclusively batman art, who does not like batman at all. he doesnât like any comics really, he thinks this stuff is too nerdy for him, he just does it because he knows batman sells.
i asked a couple comic vendors if they carry comics from oni press and they had never heard of it.
iâll comment on a guy wearing a mass effect shirt and heâll look at me like i have two heads. he doesnât play mass effect. he just bought it because it was at gamestop. happens a lot with the fallout vault boy shirts too, and occasionally that rick and morty shirt with the diagram of the portal gun
if we agree that these guys are all right, then i donât want to hear a damn word about âfake geek girlsâ.

Loki ruled Asgard for 4 years. Nothing bad happened, he wasnât a bad ruler. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The only thing that Loki did was a giant statue dedicated to him while being fed grapes. Asgard was peaceful, Loki was a good ruler. Odin didnât want Loki to rule which is why he went on a murderous rampage but after Ragnarok we know he is good . God bless Loki
I imagine that after years of Victorâs fans seeing his cool, suave, pre-Yuuri image where he pretended to have it all together and be a Serious Athleteâ˘ď¸, Victors fans are now living for the moments when Yuuri stealthily sneaks footage of Victor being his silly, goofy self. Includes, but not limited to:
– Victor and Georgi lip syncing Brittany Spears greatest hits during gym time
– Victor cracking up at some joke Yuuri made in the middle of lunch and nearly spitting his drink all over the table
– Victor practicing corny pick up lines, complete with over the top winking and eyebrow wiggles, as he skates past Yuuri in practice
– Victor teaching Yurio some of those old hand-clapping games and giggling in delight as Yurio gets more and more frustrated at not being able to beat him
– Victor loudly critiquing the plot of bad rom-coms during their movie nights (âSo what, she spends her life waiting for him to love her, and now that he has nothing left, he can just come crawling back to her?? After he treated her like shit?? No listen Yuuri, stop laughing, it isnât right! He doesnât even like her dog, why would you put up with someone like that???)
– Victor singing silly childrenâs songs to Makka in every language he knows while she lets him rub her belly
– Victor getting ready for a photo shoot, but instead of him getting dressed like heâs supposed to, he puts on parts of different outfits that look rediculous together and comes out to jokingly model them, complete with over-the-top posing
– Victor trying to tell Mila a joke he heard, but laughing through the punch line every time until he and Mila are crying laughing just from the fact that Victor canât get the stupid joke out
– Victor breezily pretending not to speak Russian or English while Yakov yells at him at the rink
Essentially Yuuriâs social media presence has gone from nonexistent to only existing to show the world what a world class dork his fiancĂŠ is, because they have been deprived of it for too long.
