I keep thinking about this man.
It is one thing to advance your sport or be renown for your talent on a global scale. It’s another to be an Olympic medalist.
But it cannot be understated how important he was for the creation and advancement of his sport for his country. He single-handedly brought the spotlight to Kazakhstan for the figure skating world.
He engaged us with his talent, his absolute commitment to his nation and to his art. He gave his body completely to his work and in return, he was so cruelly and violently taken from the world. To say that it is unfair would be too simple.
Denis Ten was a game changer for his sport and for his country and I hope that his legacy is lifted up and shown as someone who truly loved what he did and worked tirelessly to advance it.
My heart hurts so much today.
May tonight’s stars shine a little brighter with you in their midst, sweet man.
The internet could change next week, and not in a good way
You may have heard about the efforts in Europe to reform copyright law. The debate has been ongoing in the European Parliament for months. If approved next week, these new regulations would require us to automatically filter and block content that you upload without meaningful consideration of your right to free expression.
We respect the copyrights and trademarks of others, and we take all reports seriously to ensure that your creative expression is protected. We make this clear in our Community Guidelines. There’s already a legal framework that works and is fair: Today we take down posts and media that contain allegedly infringing content when we receive a valid DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) takedown request. We also provide clear-cut ways for people to fight back if they believe their removed content was not a true violation. These instances are monitored and reported and live in our biannual transparency report.
The suggestion to use automated filters for issues of copyright is short-sighted at best and harmful at worst. Automated filters are unable to determine whether a use should be considered “fair use” under the law and are unable to determine whether a use is authorized by a license agreement. They are unable to distinguish legitimate parody, satire, or even your own personal pictures that could be matched with similar photographs that have been protected by someone else. We don’t believe that technology should replace human judgment.
Tumblr is and always has been a place for creative expression, and these new regulations would only make it harder for you to express yourself with the freedom and clarity you do so now.

I wish you’d write a fic where Viktor is in trouble with Yuuri and tries to make it up to him. ^_^
“Wait, so trouble like ‘in the family way’?”
Victor scowls. “Are you fucking kidding?”
Yuuri raises both eyebrows. “I mean, yes? I of all people know that you of all people can’t be pregnant. Though not for lack of trying.”
This is not going the way Victor wanted at all, and he consciously stops himself from chewing his lower lip because it makes them chapped. “This is serious, Yuuri. I think I may have….oh, god, this is hard, okay. I think I erased your Skyrim save.”
The colour disappears from his husband’s face. “I’m sorry, you did what now?”
Victor wants to sink into the floor and just die. “I fucked up,” he moans. “I know I did. But I want you to know that I did everything I could. I called the console company and even got a quote from a data restoration center, but they needed your sign-off before I could pay them the thousand bucks it would cost to–”
“Please tell me you didn’t send them a thousand dollars,” Yuuri gasps, and Victor shakes his head so fast he can feel his bangs whip across his eyelashes.
“Of course not,” he replies. “I ran out of options, so I, uh. I got in touch with Griffin McElroy?”
If Yuuri was sheet-white before, he turns downright transparent now. “What?”
“He owes me a favor, it’s not important. Anyway he’s gonna come over for an afternoon and hang with us and help you rebuild your Skyrim person. He’s apparently good at that. I think. I–Yuuri, are you shaking?”
Yuuri’s hands are indeed trembling. “I can’t fucking believe you,” he croaks. “I’m so mad but also so happy, why do I even put up with you? How are you so wonderful? What on earth possessed you to turn on the PS4 in the first place?”
Victor feels his face get hot. “I…I wanted to play Mario.”
